内容記述 In 2006, Japan’s Prime Minister Abe took office with the intention of building a“Beautiful country, Japan”(Abe, 2006). Abe swiftly formed the Education Rebuilding Council whose purpose was to discuss the current state of education and develop a set of proposals for education reform. This paper utilizes Critical Discourse Analysis as a research tool to examine a selection of texts from the Japanese Education Rebuilding Council Meetings held between 2006-2007. The paper discusses the emerging discourses of globalization, patriotism, and citizenship in Japanese society.
