| 内容記述 | This paper discusses the affirmative action programs presently implemented in the United Nations that concern employment of women. The experience at the United Nations demonstrates that consistent efforts are required to advance the women’s situation in the workplace. Similar affirmative action programs have been implemented in developed countries and it has been shown that the role of public policy is very important to increase the representation of women. In light of these findings, the article makes several policy proposals for the advancement of women in Japan which will help alleviate the anticipated labor shortage in the early 21st century. | |||||||||||
