Through generations this has been the basis of effective business management in Japan, and thus I would call it the “team power” spirit of Japanese companies. In a globally competitive world, it is now very important to enhance the system of human resource management such that it fully utilizes “team power,” combining individuals’ abilities to gain a vastly greater level of efficiency. In this paper, therefore, I propose four suggestions: (1) fostering management leadership; (2) clarifying evaluation standards of team performance which are supported by all employees; (3) forming a team evaluation scheme; and (4) improving organizational environment by managers. This is carried out, for example, in the reassessment and restructure of OJT activities, so as to impact group norms.
