It begins by providing an overview of the definition of internationalization in higher education in general, before examining Kokusaika（Internationalization）in Japan and Japanese higher education. Through the literature, the driving forces of internationalization; academic, social, economic, and political, are examined in relation to the internationalization of Japan.
