He then sought to assess how the observed changes compared with those discussed in current existing SA literature. His results largely reflected the findings in the literature with an increase in natural exposure to the L2 through an SA experience seeming to contribute more to fluency and naturalness of speech through a higher speech rate, fewer disfluencies and greater use of native-like filled pauses and colloquial non-pause fillers.
